Over several days in late May 2026, undercover investigations were conducted at not one, but three major Kroger egg suppliers. Using USDA codes, these eggs were traced to Kroger stores throughout the Midwest—including a Kroger store across the street from the company’s corporate headquarters in Cincinnati. Death, Disgust, and Disease at
Three Kroger Egg Suppliers

Recently obtained footage exposes severe animal suffering linked to multiple Kroger locations. The footage taken at three Kroger egg suppliers: Trillium Farms in Croton, Ohio; Automated Egg in North Manchester, Indiana; and Hi-Grade Egg Producers in Manchester, Indiana document highly unsanitary and abusive conditions.

The Reality of Kroger’s Egg Supply Chain:

  • Countless birds forced to live in cramped cages atop the rotting, mummified carcasses of their dead cage-mates.
  • Birds so sick, injured, and diseased, they were barely alive.
  • Widespread rodent and insect infestations.
  • Blood and feces-covered eggs.
  • Dead birds in a watery pit inside a facility housing live birds, so decayed that a jelly-like substance oozed from their bodies.
  • Birds drenched in feces from those living in the cages above them.
  • Birds with their heads and wings painfully twisted up in their wire cages, trapping them so they couldn’t move.

Kroger abandoned its commitment to banning battery cages in its egg supply chain and has failed to publish a credible path toward 100% cage-free implementation. It’s time for the company to address the cruelty in its supply chain and take meaningful action today. Contact Kroger today and tell them to do the right thing for suffering hens.
